▶ Eric Ross - Futuristic sounds on the Theremin
Wednesday, 17. April 2013, 8pm
at MUG / EINSTEIN room 4 tickets (12/6)
This electronic instrument that reacts to the player’s hands moving in the air above it was invented by the Russian physics professor Lev Termen. The famous jazz and contemporary music composer Eric Ross from New York is one of the view internationally important interpreters of this futuristic instrument that actually produces sounds without ever being touched by its player. He played at the most important concert halls and festivals worldwide, composed standard works for Theremin and recorded various CDs, most recently “Boulevard D’Recontstructie”.
With his combination of acoustic and visual elements, Eric Ross has developed an exceptional as well as contemporary form of artistic expression that equally features music and images. The innovative artist presents a performance for which he brings together electronic and acoustic music on the one side and a synthesis of edited videos, stills and computer-based art on the other side. Eric Ross has given concerts for example at Berlin Jazztage, Newport, North Sea, Montreux Jazz Festivals, Brussels Palais des Beaux Arts, Guggenheim Museum-Bilbao, Spain, Kopenhagen, Prag, New Music Festivals and many more. In Germany he has performed in Berlin (Jazzfest), Bremerhaven, Cologne (WDR), Munich (Lenbachhaus), Nuremberg, Dresden, Hamburg, Heidelberg, Freiberg, Dessau, Karlsruhe, Würzburg and other cities.
